Carsten Wicke started his study of Indian classical music learning tabla under Pandit Anindo Chatterjee in Kalkutta. He trains under Ustad Asad Ali Khan on the traditional Rudra Veena and now learns the Dagar Bani on the instrument from Ashish Sankrityayan. He has performed with Ashish Sankrittyayan on the Veena in several of his concerts in Europe. Beside organizing concert tours and workshops with Indian musicians, he has written a diploma thesis at Hildesheim University on the subject of Rudra Veena and Sitar. He is also making several video documentries on North Indian music.
