Ashish Sankrityayan regularly conducts intensive workshops for students of vocal and instrumental dhrupad in India and in Europe. The teaching is by the traditional Guru-shishya system and involves instruction, practice, demonstrations and discussions for the entire day individually or in small groups of two or three students. Since the teaching is traditional, without time bound lessons, the fee or Guru dakshina is not fixed but depends on the student's ability to pay or do sewa. This method of teaching is suitable only for highly committed and dedicated students. The objective of the training is to produce performers and teachers.
