Christian Kathrein graduated from the conservatory of Essen where he studied the guitar and later trained on the sitar for ten years under Pandit Nayan Ghosh in India. For the past five years he has been learning the Dagar Bani of dhrupad on the rudra veena from Ashish Sankrityayan. He now lives in India and is a sitar and rudra veena teacher.
